Text still reigns supreme as the substance of any good Web site. While well selected graphics may serve to enhance the message, text is the message in most cases. Keep in mind that a Web page does not suffer the physical size constraints of an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper. However, I generally limit each Web page to the text that would fit on such a sheet formatted with half inch margins and 12 point font size. Submit your text to GlobalTek America in standard word processor format via an email. Note: Edit it into the final form before sending it.
Graphics
are a great way to bring attention to certain
elements of a page like a simple masthead (which could incorporate a logo
and/or slogan) a divider line or bar
(used wherever a clear break must be made on a page) a
bullet for use in menus, lists and such. A
background image, should you feel it is necessary.
The Web is a colorful, graphical medium.
This makes for a strong temptation to overdo matters. So bear in mind that
graphics should enhance, not distract. Also remember that many people will
leave a site that takes a while to view due to graphics overload.
It is our goal to make web pages load in less than 20 seconds using a 28.8
fax modem and should be your objective too.
GlobalTek America recommends that you use your own photos and art work, or select from thousands of photos available that have been deemed royalty free. Pay particular attention not to use something that has been copyrighted or infringes on a trademark. Example of this would be do not use any well known clowns to represent your site or any part of it, especially if you might be selling hamburgers.
Navigation of your site is facilitated by keyword text links at the bottom of each page or elsewhere. Surfers need to find their way around your Web site easily. A well designed site will lead even the first time visitor easily through what you have to offer. Navigational links can be compared to a table of contents.
Forms make it easier to conduct surveys, build mailing lists, auto generate requested information get visitor feedback and even take orders for your product or service.
